Job Title: Materials Testing Technician NOC: 22300 Company: Metalcare Group Inc Address: 2500 No.5 Road, Richmond, BC, V6X 2T1 Location: Lower Mainland, British Columbia Salary: $70,980.00 per year Hours: 35 per week Benefits: Extended Medical/ Dental Vacation & Statutory Holiday Pay: as per the British Columbia Employment Standards Act. Company Vehicle The employee will be supplied a company vehicle and fuel card to be used for work purposes. Responsibilities: • Travel to various construction sites throughout the Lower Mainland and conduct testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with ASTM/CSA test methods. • Perform laboratory work, including sieve/proctor testing of sampled soil and aggregate materials, asphalt Marshall and Superpave testing, compressive strength testing of concrete cylinders, and more. • Maintain well-organized and detailed records of test results. • Foster and maintain positive relationships with both new and existing clients. • Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal safety by attending site-specific safety orientations as required. • Perform some heavy lifting, requiring physical fitness to carry moderately heavy equipment (approximately 50 lbs) over rough terrain and into/out of trenches, etc. Qualifications: • Preferably 2+ years of previous experience in a similar role. • Diploma in Civil Engineering is highly desirable • Solid knowledge of soils, including properties of different soils and an understanding of the moisture-density relationship, as well as correct sampling procedures. • Experience with concrete sampling and testing in a timely and accurate fashion. • Familiarity with asphalt sampling and the ability to work around paving equipment. • Proficiency in operating a Portable Nuclear Gauge for soil density and asphalt density testing. • Current CCIL certification in concrete, asphalt, or aggregates would be an asset. • Possession of a current TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification would be an asset. • Must hold a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license.
