Mountain View Tile provides tiling services across lower mainland. We are looking for a skilled and experienced tile setter supervisor in building construction and maintenance. Overview of the position Languages English Education Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience 5 years or more Salary: $35.00 to $45.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 40 hours per Week Terms of employment: Permanent employment and Full time Work site environment: Outdoors Noisy Dusty Odours Work setting Construction Inspection Installation Commercial Institutional Residential Restoration Various locations On-site customer service Responsibilities Tasks Train or arrange for training Ensure health and safety regulations are followed Read blueprints and drawings Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout Install tile strips Supervise other workers Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets Align and straighten tiles Prepare rough plans and sketches Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles Instruct apprentices Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered Supervision 1 to 2 people Additional information Security and safety Bondable Criminal record check Transportation/travel information Valid driver's license Own vehicle Own transportation Work conditions and physical capabilities Work under pressure Overtime required Bending, crouching, kneeling Physically demanding Large workload Ability to distinguish between colours Hand-eye co-ordination Attention to detail Handling heavy loads Own tools/equipment Steel-toed safety boots Hard hat Personal suitability Excellent oral communication Reliability Team player Judgement Dependability Accurate Client focus Excellent written communication | |
