Job Description

Help roofers to Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings.

Instruct apprentices.

Help to remove asphalt shingles on sloped roofs.

Work with roofers installing underlays (ice and water shield, synthetic paper, tar paper).

Work with roofers installing miscellaneous flashings (dripedge, valley, chimney, wall).

Help to install asphalt shingles with pneumatic air nailer.

Help the crew members to install roof vents, exhaust hoods, plumbing stack flashings, etc.

Help to measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials

Work with carpenters to fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware

Help to maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments

Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs

Load, unload and transport construction materials

Clean and pile salvaged materials

Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites

Snow shoveling



Requirements:

Education: Not required

Experience: A minimum of 7 months of experience in the trade is required. On-the-job training will be provided

Experience with a pneumatic air nailer is an asset

Valid driver’s license is an asset

Credentials: Ontario Working at Heights is required. If the candidate does not have the training certificate, he/she will need to apply for one before start working

Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Language: Basic English is required



Salary: $24.00 per hour, 30 - 40 Hours per week.



Benefits: Hourly bonus for work on steep pitch roofs ($2.00 extra per hour). Accommodation available at a discounted rate. PPE and Transportation to and from the worksites is provided by the employer. Transportation costs covered if worker needs to relocate.



Important information: This position will require flexibility on schedule. From Monday to Friday, regular shifts start at 7:45 am and could be 8-10 hours long depending on the tasks to be completed on the day. Overtime and work on weekends may be required depending on the business needs. **We guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week regardless of the weather**
