If this sounds like the career path for you, we encourage you to apply! We are seeking a BIM Senior Technician for Fast + Epp’s new Toronto office, opening early 2024. This role typically manages 5-8 medium to large projects concurrently and is responsible for BIM content development, BIM coordination and collaboration with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other related disciplines. The BIM Senior Technician reports to the BIM Manager at Fast + Epp. This role is based out of our Toronto office, with flexibility to work remotely in a hybrid arrangement.
Job duties
As a BIM Lead, your day to day duties will be:
• Responsible for BIM content development, BIM coordination and collaboration with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other related disciplines.
• Manages 5-8 medium to large / extra-large size projects concurrently, including ensuring quality of Revit models and drawing sets while working with the BIM Manager to meet project goals.
• Guides project teams with BIM and collaboration strategy.
• Oversees adherence to office standards, project budgets, and required timelines.
• Coordinate, execute and manage project setup, incoming mark-ups, project BIM data and project workflow.
• Develop engineers’ concepts, mark-ups, and sketches into accurate LOD 300 models and drawing packages.
• Directly coordinate with other consultants (arch, mech etc.).
• Set up linked models and coordinate with models across all disciplines.
• Perform regular model audits and clean-ups to ensure model size is reasonable.
• Perform regular QC checks of other staff’s work.
• Manage Bluebeam session mark-ups and mark-up archiving.
• Review clash reports and perform, if necessary, changes in the model.
• Attend internal project meetings and convey necessary information to team members.
• Provide technical support as required to project teams.
• Attend consultant project coordination meetings as required (BIM start-up meeting etc.). Serve as the main BIM contact for external consultants.
Required Knowledge and Skills
• 7+ years of structural drafting technician on buildings/facilities.
• Diploma in Civil/Structural Technology or a related field with relevant work experience.
• Registration with Engineering Technicians & Technologists Association in your specific region (ASTTBC, OACETT, etc.)
• High level of proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and BIM360.
• Strong ability to read and understand architectural and structural engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail, motivated and self-starter.
• Excellent time management skills, including the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Experience with mass timber considered an asset
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Quality written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate within the team and with external teams or clients
• Ability to work in an environment driven by multiple deadlines

Language of work: English
This is full time position (37,5 hours per week).
Salary: $110,000 per year
