Job Description

-Generate maps and related graphs and charts: Create quality map products based on established cartographic standards and effective communication practices using GIS and/or CAD.

-Plan map content, format and design and compile required data from aerial photographs, survey notes, records, reports and other maps

-Maintain and manage digital database

-Process data to conduct basic analyses of trends: Run analysis on data and created new data layers with data from varied data sources (Lidar, DTM, DSM, Vector, Raster.

-Write specifications and technical reports.

-Apply quality control procedure.

-Inspect final compositions.

-Develop specialized computer software, Internet based GIS, database and business applications: Use routing software to optimize route design and suggest program improvements.

-Perform data entry.

-Verify accuracy and completeness of data.

-Develop high-quality maps in routing for winter maintenance in road plowing and salting in the City of Toronto.

-Complete mapping windrow analysis.

-Edit and manipulate existing data for upload to GIS web applications and Geotab GPS software portal

-Create scripts to make workflow more effective in various environments (Arcade, Python, FME)

-Edit, revise, update and correct existing Esri digital maps. Maintain quality control and inspect final compositions to ensure completeness and accuracy.

-Create data & maps to publish to ArcGIS Server and/or ArcGIS Online for use in Mobile and Internet based GIS.

-Takes lead on new innovative projects to improve service delivery (e.g in-cab routing, dashcams, etc.)

-Meet with clients and third-party vendors to discuss program improvements and opportunities for data sharing

-Assists in the development of the company’s technology and IT strategy

-Works with Supervisors and other field staff to improve program design and operational efficiency

-Takes on other administrative projects as assigned



Requirements:

-Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

-Experience: At least 2 years of experience in the field is required. If the candidate does not have the experience, then completion of a college program in geomatics, cartography, photogrammetry, aerial survey, remote sensing, geographic information system (GIS) or geomatics is required.

- Computer and Technology knowledge: SQL, Computer-aided design (CAD), Database, Digitizing system, Geographic Information System (GIS), MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, 3D graphic software, Map creation software.

-Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Attention to detail, Ability to distinguish between colours, Sitting.

-Personal suitability: Accurate, Efficient interpersonal skills, Excellent oral and written communication, Judgement, Organized, Team player.

-Language: English is required

Salary: $41.21 hourly, 35 hours per week.

Schedule: The employee will work 7 hours per day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an unpaid one-hour lunch break. Additional support may be required outside of regular working hours during the winter season.
