Business address: 37 Mill St E, Acton, ON L7J 1H1 Work Location: Same as above Type of Employment: Full time – Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances Supervise kitchen staff and helpers Clean kitchen and work areas Manage kitchen operations Follow and comply consistently with the restaurant’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock Handle, store, and rotate all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies and procedures Season and cook food according to recipes Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food when needed Requirements: - Education: Completion of secondary school is required - Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a cook is required. If the candidate does not have 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary certificate is required - Experience cooking Mexican food is a strong asset Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding, Standing for extended periods, Repetitive tasks, Work under pressure, Attention to detail, Handling heavy loads Personal Suitability: Judgement, Flexibility, Team player, Organized, Initiative, Client focus, Dependability, Reliability Language: English is required Salary: $16.55 hourly, 40 - 44 hours per week. Benefits: 1 free meal per shift and 50% general employee discount. Transportation cost covered if worker needs to relocate. Important Information: Flexibility in schedule is required especially for take-out service. The work schedule varies due to the business operating hours, the candidate will work from Tuesday to Sunday as follows: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 8pm Tuesday from 10am to 8pm Sunday from 11am to 6pm Work on holidays and overtime may be required.
