Worldliness! This is a KJV Bible study guide. *You cannot enjoy worldly pleasures and be a friend of God. James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. *What kind of activities are wrong? Fruits, works or desires of the flesh follow: Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Galatians 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Why are they wrong? We all must make a choice. Which is more important to you? Temporary pleasures or eternal life with God? Remember, there is no third choice. Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. *Knowing Jesus causes us to lose interest in the world. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. *Avoid worldly philosophies. Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Subjective Moral Reasoning [S.M.R.] comes to mind). *Live as though your home were in heaven, because it is. 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Again, I have attempted to connect some of the dots. Tagging along with the world results in one thing, becoming an enemy of God. I truly hope you don’t want to be in that boat.
