Setting up Telstra emails on your phone and tablet enables you to stay connected without missing emails. The setup involves several simple steps that are often common for Android, iOS, and even BlackBerry phones. First, find the email application on your device. This could be the default mail application or any other mail app that you have installed on your phone for handling email. Once in the app, open the settings section to add a new email account and select the option of adding an account. Choose the ‘Telstra’ email option, when setting up like most email accounts today, but with Telstra Mail, you will either be prompted to select IMAP or POP. Next, you will have to input the full address of your Telstra account and its password. The incoming server is either an IMAP or a POP account for Telstra uses ‘mail.bigpond.com’ SSL enabled while the outgoing server is the same as the former server address: ‘mail.bigpond.com’. You may set them up on either standard ports (IMAP to port 143, POP to port 110, and SMTP to port 25) or remote port servers. These port settings are usually correct so that the information sent or received through email is very protected. After filling in all of the information, your device’s default mailbox sends a test message to verify the settings. Provided that all the steps outlined above have been completed correctly, you should have your Telstra email ready for use on your device.
