Type of Employment: Full time - Permanent Anticipated Start Date As soon as possible Job Duties: May perform the same duties as workers supervised Direct planting of trees, gardens and lawns Hire, supervise and schedule staff Organize planting of trees, gardens and lawns Resolve work problems by providing technical advice to increase the value and functionality of a property Schedule events, programs and activities Schedule work Plan and direct grounds maintenance Plan and estimate labour and materials Organize and direct construction of decks and decorative or retaining walls Plan, manage and supervise landscape construction work Maintain work records and logs Tender and administer contracts Read blueprints and drawings Repair and maintain equipment Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality Requirements Education: Completion of secondary school education is required. A college diploma, specialized courses OR industry-related training and certification in landscaping and horticulture is an asset. Experience: At least two years of experience as a landscape or horticulture supervisor or as a landscape or horticulture technician are required, including previous experience as a landscape labourer. Supervision: 5 – 10 people Work conditions and Physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Repetitive tasks, Hand-eye co-ordination. Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Hot, Cold, Wet/damp, Noisy, Odours, Dusty. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Language: English is required Salary: $34.07 hourly, 30 - 40 hours per week Benefits: Work uniforms and tools provided by the employer, Transportation among work locations provided by the employer, Free parking available, Learning/training paid by employer, Team building opportunities. Important Information: The worker will work 6 to 9.5 hours per day, which will be scheduled within the business operating hours from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., from Monday to Friday. The schedule includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and a 15-minute paid coffee break. Flexibility on schedule is required as some days may start earlier, and others finish later depending on the business needs and weather conditions.
