Glory God not man! | |
Don't seek the glory of men! Matthew 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. (Don't do your good deeds publicly to be admired, for then you will lose the reward from the Heavenly Father). Matthew 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (When you help someone or give a gift to someone, don't shout about it or go around telling everybody what you did calling attention to your act of charity like the hypocrites do. If you do; this is the only reward you will ever get). Matthew 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (When you do a kindness to someone, do it secretly. Don't tell your left hand what your right hand is doing). Matthew 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (The Heavenly Father who knows all secrets and will reward you openly for your kindness towards others). Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who pretend piety by praying publicly, [it looks so holy], in front of others or in the church where everyone can see you, because that is all the reward you will ever get, and your prayers may not be answered. It may make you feel so holy or religious in front of others, but that is about the extent of it). Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (When you pray, let it be in secret by yourself and pray to the Heavenly Father secretly, and the Heavenly Father who already knows your secrets will reward you). Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (Don't recite the same prayer like the heathen do over and over, thinking your prayers will only be answered by repeating them again and again). Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. (Remember, your Heavenly Father knows exactly what you "need" even before you ask Him. He is a heart knower). Your beliefs and actions are shaped by the audience to whom you want to please. Who do you want to please, God or man? ![]() | |
