Mainly used for dyeing and printing of cotton fabrics, and also an important intermediate for synthesizing red organic pigments. It can be coupled with chromophore AS-E after diazotization to obtain Pigment Red 8, and with chromophore AS to obtain Pigment Red 22. That is, 3-hydroxy 4-[(2-methyl-5-nitrophenyl)azo]-N-phenyl-2-naphthamide, which is mainly used in fabric printing and dyeing and ink coloring, especially NC-type ink, with good alkali and soap resistance; it can also be used for coloring air-drying paint, latex paint, interior paint, etc.
